One of my very favorite books is “The Go-Giver” by Bob Burg and John David Mann. This bestseller is a parable about a guy named Joe~a real Go-Getter who struggles to achieve his goals. Joe is mentored by Pindar*~ a wise, generous man with substantial influence and success. Pindar attempts to teach Joe The 5 Laws of Stratospheric Success, the 4th of which is The Law of Authenticity. This law says “the most valuable gift you have to offer is yourself”.
I really like this law because it kind of takes the pressure off. I don’t need to pretend! “Pretend what?” you might ask.
Pretend that I actually know how to write a great blog post.
Pretend that I don’t ever have a bad day.
Pretend that I can help absolutely everyone with my coaching.
Pretend that I don’t ever worry about stuff.
That would be a LOT of pretending and it would definitely restrict me in what I want to share.
So as we get to know each other, I look forward to sharing our authentic selves. I hope you can handle flaws, cause I’ve got many. (ie. I cropped the picture of my eye so you couldn’t see all the wrinkles next to my nose.) **
But in addition to my short-comings, I’ve got a passion for helping people improve every aspect of their lives with a subtle shift in their thinking.
I hope you find something of value in my words and I look forward to hearing yours~
*Pindar is an awesome coach, mentor and person. When I facilitate a Mastermind group on this book, I secretly hope the participants will start to call me Lindar…Linda Ryan…Linda R…Lindar…get it?
**Since publishing, I decided to remove the eye picture. Someone whose opinion I value told me it was a little eery and I try to take the advice of those I value.
