Hard for me to believe, but it has been nearly seven years since I started Mind Over Matter Coaching. Seven years since I took a GIANT leap of faith to leave behind a career that I loved in the medical field, to become a coach.
One of the first things I needed to do was to choose a name. I had several reasons for choosing Mind Over Matter.
The first was because the acronym just happened to signify my most important role in life~that of MOM.
The second reason was because I felt it had a nice ring to it, and it symbolized what I had learned and wanted to help others learn: That no matter what you are facing, no matter what obstacles stand in your path, no matter how far away the goal appears, you can make remarkable strides by using the power of your mind.
I know this because I lived it. I picked myself up, dusted myself off and started all over again at the tender age of 42.
And last, but not least, I chose the name because it had an “O” in it; an O which I was able to expand to represent this image of The Stick Person. The Stick Person is “a picture of the mind,” created by Dr. Thurman Fleet, back in the early 1900′s. I believe that learning this concept from Bob Proctor and Paul Martinelli, all those years ago, is what kept me out of a looney bin. And I’ve never stopped studying it
So… that’s how I chose my name. How did you choose yours? I wonder why Apple chose Apple.
(If you would like an explanation of this Stick Person/this image that helps us understand and thereby control how our mind works, just let me know and I’ll be happy to explain it, in less than 10 minutes.)
