Coincidence? I Think Not!

The dictionary defines coincidence as “a striking occurrence of two or more events at one time, apparently by mere chance.”  It goes on to list its synonyms as “accident, luck and fate.”

In preparing for my interview today with Ryan Lowe, author of “Get Off Your Attitude,” I noticed he had a quote about coincidence in his chapter on Faith.  The quote comes from Albert Einstein, who said “Coincidence is God’s way of remaining anonymous.”  I really love that definition!  And I enjoy living life not only noticing and appreciating coincidences, but also recognizing all the intricate connections which had to occur and attributing them to a Higher Power. What’s Your Story?

Time once again to share a fantastic quote from one of my favorite teachers on The Law of Attraction.  This one has to do with improving results, achieving goals and changing current “reality”.  All of these changes begin, as we begin to…….

Tell A Different Story!

“Start telling a better-feeling story about the things that are important to you. Do not write your story like a factual documentary, weighing  all the pros and cons of your experience, but instead tell the uplifting,  fanciful, magical story of the wonder of your own life and watch what happens.  It will feel like magic as your life begins to transform right before your eyes, but it is not by magic. It is by the power of the Laws of the Universe and your deliberate alignment with those Laws.”  ~ Abraham

As little children, we are really great at making up stories.  Our imaginations soar as we create fantasies in our minds and we get emotionally involved with the idea of those fantasies becoming a reality.  And then somewhere along the line, we learn to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

While honesty is a great quality, it doesn’t serve us well when we are trying to make stuff up (MSU).  Our conscious mind knows the difference between the truth and a lie.  But here’s the great news: our subconscious mind does not!  And it’s our subconscious mind that determines how we feel and how we vibrate.  And it’s how we feel and how we vibrate that influence what we attract.

In working with people on their goals, I start by asking them to tell me about what they want.  And typically they will tell me, in great detail, what they don’t want or what they used to have or what is causing them to struggle… all of which are their “old story.”  The problem is, it continues to be their “new story,” so long as they keep telling it.  They feel strongly that I need to hear about what has come before, so I can understand how they got to where they are today.  And while that is true, once I’ve heard it, we can and should move on.  On to the new story.  Talk to me about what you want to be or do or have.  Let’s give some thought energy to those things.  Let’s tell your new story and let’s MSU!

The best way I know to do that is by writing in a journal.  Get out a notebook and a pen and start to MSU.  Pretend you’re writing a novel and make the story interesting and colorful.  YOU are the main character and YOU are exciting and interesting!  YOU are smart and successful and beautiful and funny and fit and popular and loved. Your life can be as exciting as you decide to make it when you tell your story; or as boring, mundane and predictable as you decide to keep it by continuing to tell your story.

So what ‘s your story?
Are you telling the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth, or do you allow yourself to MSU?
Have you ever journalled about something and later achieved or received it?  I love hearing those stories!

Disclaimer: I am not suggesting or condoning lying to your friends and family and colleagues; only to your subconscious mind.  And  I am definitely encouraging you to exercise your imagination and tell a different story to yourself.

When You’re Out Of Alignment Do You Get An Adjustment?

“The emotion you feel is always about the vibrational variance between where you want to be and where you are. If you’re out of balance, there are only two ways to bring yourself into alignment: Either raise your expectation to match your desire-or lower your desire to match your expectation.” ~Abraham Continue reading

Trust The Man(n) AND The Universe

John David Mann, Me & Bob Burg at The Go-Giver Retreat

One of the many highlights from last week’s Go Giver Retreat was listening to John David Mann, co-author of “The Go-Giver.”  In addition to being a fantastic writer and a really nice guy, John is a very engaging speaker.  Something John said really stood out for me.  He said

Trust that the Universe
is conspiring to help you Continue reading

A Million Dollar Tip For A 40 Minute Trip

Since my usual driver (aka my BFF) was unavailable, I arranged for a car to take me to the airport. As I was walking to the car, the driver said “What time is your flight, cuz we’re gonna hit a LOT of traffic! All week long…TONS of construction on Route 78… it’s horrible!…yesterday it took us an hour and 45 minutes! (should take 30) You better PRAY your flight is delayed!” Continue reading

Ten Little Words

A few weeks ago I was assigned the task of being able to tell someone what I do for a living…in ten words or less. This is quite different from the traditional “elevator pitch,” where we tell someone what we do in 30 seconds or less. Ten words is… not that many. So, on went my thinking cap. Continue reading

Think You’re A Positive Thinker? Think Again.

This week I started reading The Power, the follow-up book to The Secret, written by Rhonda Byrne.  This section, from early in the book, really got me (and has kept me) thinking:

“How do you know whether your thoughts are positive or negative?  Your thoughts are positive when they are thoughts of what you want and love!  And negative thoughts are thoughts of what you don’t want and don’t love.  It’s that simple and that easy.”

Not sure if I agree with the easy part, but it certainly is simple.  And, up until I read this next part, I saw myself high on the list of positive thinkers I know.

When you talk about any difficulties with money, a relationship, an illness, or even that the profits of your business are down, you are not talking about what you love.

When I read that, I began to think “Hold on there, Miss Think-You’re-So-Positive!  When is the last time you loved the new carpet you want to install in your living room?  Are you loving the house at the beach you’d like to buy?  And I’m pretty sure I haven’t heard you utter one, single word about loving those wrinkles on your face!”

Hmmmmmmm…. Maybe I’m not as positive as I thought I was.  Maybe I am spending more time than I realized thinking and talking about what I don’t love.  Or talking about what I will love once I have it, without actually loving it now.  Maybe I need to finish reading this book.

And maybe (and by “maybe” I mean “definitely!”) you can help me by sharing your thoughts.  When you have a problem, do you think about loving the solution, or do you spend too long not loving the difficulty?

It’s Not About You…It’s About Me!

My favorite teachers on The Law of Attraction are, without question, Esther Hicks and Abraham.  One reason why I love them is they frequently offer ideas and suggestions that require us to do very little, if anything to experience a change in our results. Continue reading

Blah Blah Blogging

One of the things I admire about some of my favorite bloggers, is when their posts are short.  They make their point succinctly and then they get the heck outta there.  Check out Randy Gage or Bob Burg or Seth Godin. Short, informative and profoundly thought-provoking, as evidenced by the interesting discussions in the stream of comments. Continue reading
